Our Powder Coating & Cerakote Process
At Matter Industries, every project follows a proven preparation and coating process designed to produce a finish that lasts. Whether you're restoring automotive wheels, motorcycle parts, industrial components, agricultural equipment, or custom fabricated parts, proper preparation is what separates a quality finish from one that fails prematurely.
Serving customers throughout Coal City, Morris, Wilmington, Minooka, Joliet, and the surrounding Will County and Grundy County communities, we take the time to prepare every part correctly before a single coat is applied.

Step 1 – Chemical Stripping & Deep Cleaning
Every refinishing project begins with removing contaminants and existing finishes. Parts are thoroughly cleaned and degreased to eliminate oil, grease, road grime, silicone, and other contaminants that can interfere with coating adhesion.
When existing paint, powder coating, or other finishes must be removed, components are chemically stripped using a professional benzyl alcohol-based stripping process. This effectively removes old coatings while minimizing damage to the underlying metal, making it an excellent solution for restoring wheels, motorcycle parts, fabricated components, and industrial equipment.
Starting with a clean, bare surface allows every coating system to perform exactly as intended.
Step 3 – Professional Powder Coating & Cerakote Application
With the surface fully prepared, components are coated using the system that best matches their intended use and performance requirements.
We offer a wide range of finishing options including:
Durable single-color powder coating
Multi-stage powder coating systems
Epoxy primers
Zinc-rich corrosion-resistant primers
High-temperature coatings
Cerakote ceramic coatings
Satin, matte, gloss, and textured finishes
Metallic, candy, translucent, and specialty colors
Custom two-tone and multi-color finishes
Clear coats for additional protection and depth
Every coating is applied using professional equipment and cured according to manufacturer specifications to ensure maximum durability, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, and long-term appearance.
Whether you need custom wheel refinishing, motorcycle part restoration, industrial p owder coating, or high-performance Cerakote services in Coal City, Will County, or Grundy County, Matter Industries delivers finishes built to perform as good as they look.
Step 2 – Abrasive Blasting & Surface Preparation
Once stripped and cleaned, each part is carefully prepared to create the ideal surface profile for maximum coating adhesion.
Depending on the material and application, we utilize abrasive media blasting to remove corrosion, oxidation, rust, and any remaining contaminants while creating the proper mechanical profile for powder coating or Cerakote. For materials that require it, alternative preparation methods such as surface etching are used to ensure optimal adhesion without damaging the substrate.
This preparation stage is one of the most important steps in producing a durable finish that resists chipping, peeling, and corrosion for years to come.
